Boobies, Frigates and Iguanas is a special art exhibition featuring mixed media by artists Susannah Sakal and Barbara Hanft. Paintings of the unique animals, plants and people Susannah and Barbara encountered on their once in a lifetime trip to the Galapagos Islands and Andes Mountains in 2018 will fill the hallway of DCAC’s gallery. All works of art are for sale and include botanical illustrations and mixed media paintings e.g., watercolor, pen and ink, oil, colored pencil, and collage. There will be sea birds, crabs, and tropical flora pieces that will showcase all the beauty Ecuador has to offer.
The opening reception will be on Friday, November 1 from 6pm to 8pm. The reception is free and open to public and takes places during downtown Manteo’s First Friday festivities. There will be live music by The Wilder Brothers on the courthouse steps, libations, and light hors d’oeuvres. Reception guests will also have the opportunity to meet Susannah and Barbara.
The show will be on display from November 1 through December 5, 2019 at Dare County Arts Council.
