Please join us for an opening reception for the Outer Banks History Center’s fall exhibit, “Daring to Lead: North Carolina Women in Politics, 1894-2010!”
In honor of 2018’s “Pink Wave” of women running for political office, this exhibit traces the history of women in politics in Dare County and beyond throughout the 20th century. It features unique primary sources exploring women’s fight to win the vote in North Carolina in the 1910s, Kill Devil Hills’ first female mayor in the 1950s, and the activism of two local chapters of the League of Women Voters in the 1980s-2000s.
The opening reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 on September 10th at the Outer Banks History Center. Drop in when you can to check out the exhibit and enjoy some free light refreshments. Please contact the OBHC at obhc@ncdcr.gov or 252-473-2655 with any questions.
