The Carolinas Solar Eclipse Party is a joint effort between North and South Carolina funded by NC Space Grant and SC Space Grant to coordinate dozens of eclipse viewing events for the public on Monday, August 21, 2017. On that date, when the Moon passes in front of the Sun, all of the Carolinas will experience a partial solar eclipse for up to a few hours. We on the Outer Banks will have 87.5% coverage. Partial eclipse starts at 1:23 PM, is at the maximum at 2:49 PM, and ends at 4:08 PM. Glasses will be distributed starting at 1 PM at the visitor center at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Bring water, blankets, sunscreen, chairs and umbrellas. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime event!
