115th Annual Wright Brothers First Flight Celebration

Black History Month Program – “Freedmen, Surfmen, Heroes”
A live presentation on the unique history of Richard Etheridge and the Pea Island Life-Savers. Etheridge, a slave taught to read and write, was the nation's first African American Keeper, and Station Pea Island the only black station in the history of the U.S. Life-Saving Service. Queen Anne’s Revenge Exhibit
To commemorate the 300th anniversary of Blackbeard’s adventures along the North Carolina coast – the place where he was ultimately brought to justice – the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is showcasing a traveling exhibit that includes artifacts representing weaponry, nautical tools and personal items recovered from his wrecked flagship the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Sea Turtle Egg Hunt
This activity is more than just an egg hunt! Children will take part in an educational sea turtle program, meet a loggerhead turtle, and make a craft to take home. The program will conclude with an egg hunt on the Aquarium grounds as children search for eggs filled with treats! Event will be held rain or shine. Ages 3 to 7. The Lost Colony
In 1587, 117 English men, women, and children came ashore on Roanoke Island to establish a permanent English settlement in the New World. Just three years later in 1590, when English ships returned to bring supplies, they found the island deserted with no sign of the colonists.
