The beginning of Fall is an amazing time on the Outer Banks. We have plenty of great events to enjoy during the beautiful weather this season. Here are a few highlights for this week and upcoming weekend.
The Lost Colony Wine & Culinary Festival is on Saturday, September 29th at the Sound Stage Theatre in Manteo. The event’s Grand Tasting will showcase the island’s favorite restaurants and best chefs serving up their specialties to complement chosen wines. The festival will also feature a Craft Beer Garden to sample local brews, culinary & wine seminars, and live musicians performing throughout the day.
The Outer Banks Jeep Jam is also this weekend, with a kick off party on Friday the 28th, the main event on Saturday, and a wrap up ride on Sunday. Saturday features a full day of activities for Jeep enthusiasts from 10am to 7pm at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. There will be the Jeep Show-n-Shine contest, a Jeep parts swap meet with tons of vendors, raffles & giveaways, live music & DJs, food & beverages, and even activities for the kids.
The Jim Mulford Memorial Red Drum Fishing Tournament is on Saturday the 29th as well. Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head will host the annual tournament, rain or shine, from 7am until 1pm. Come try your luck at catching the longest Red Drum! Additional fall species of legal size will also be judged and there will be door prizes, giveaways, and awards for the winners.
If you’d prefer some serious exercise on Saturday morning, put your pedal to the medal at the Outer Banks Cycle Race. Choose from 3 race distances – 40k, 20k, or 8k, or try the 40k & 20 k together! The race takes place at North End Park in Manteo and is open to all cyclists with recreational riders welcome.
In addition to those events, there is also live music every night, and daily lunch & dinner specials to check out all across the Outer Banks. There’s even some great stand up comedy this week at The Comedy Club.
